Henricus is an amazing example of a museum that doesn't feel like a museum. The structures, the actors/staff, and the setting itself are so immersive that you almost can't believe it exists.
Very neat little living history museum. Kind of a creepy drive to get there through a very busy industrial area that looks like you're entering a construction site. But Dutch Gap nature preserve is beautiful once you find your way in. My main complaint was that a school group was there at the same time that we were, and not only were all of the interpreters working only work the school groups, leaving no one to interact with us or answer questions, but they kept asking us to move along so the school kids could stand where we were! We paid good money to come here but did not get the experience. If they are going to have big groups, they need to schedule extra interpreters for the rest of the guests.
Great 4.5 miles walk or run around barge pit.
Will visit again
A beautiful walk by the james river, great to take kids and dags. Nice restrooms also
The walkway was very neat and trimmed. The people in the consumes enacting the old times were very well dressed to the times.
I love the place and the lady at the gift/ information desk was real nice. She was very polite and communicated very appropriately about many topics I always wanted advice on. She shed some light on the history of the country country being founded and other information I found intriguing.
